Kimberly is a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and surface designer living just outside of Chicago with her husband and two children.
Art and design have been a big part of Kimberly's life ever since she was a young girl. It's where she chooses to invest the majority of her time and energy. Making art enables her to get lost in creating the kind of special characters that warm your heart and put a smile on your face.
Kimberly’s earliest inspiration was Andy Warhol. Attending the “Andy Warhol: A Retrospective” at The Art Institute of Chicago in 1989 is one of her favorite memories. Having lunch at the Artists Cafe, a Chicago Landmark of 60 years, on Michigan Avenue after the exhibition was the cherry on top. Later that fall, Kimberly began studying art at Columbia College in Chicago. Later transferring to The Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago, Illinois, where she earned a BFA in Communication Design/Advertising Design.
Kimberly spent 10 years creating logos, building catalogs, designing packaging and sales literature leading her to realize she desperately missed making art. She began freelancing and created a boutique stationary business before discovering the world of surface design. It was a full circle moment when she found herself drawing daily again, as she did when she was young and first discovered her love of illustration. She now enjoys combining her love of illustration and graphic design.
